Congratulations to the St. Malachy Girls Soccer team for finishing the 2013 season with 16 points with 5 victories, 1 tie, and no losses. Led by captain Salma Torres (2 goals) and co-captain Kassandra Goytia (6 goals), the girls won the Archdiocese Central Division. With Esmeralda Ruiz (11 goals) and Vanessa Perez (1 goal) contributing to the offense, the girls won their first division title. The midfielders consisted of Nathalie Jaramillo, Maria Torres, and Valeria Goytia, and they contributed to the team’s success. Sweeper Andrea Perez anchored the defense that included Elena Sandoval, Arcie Jaramillo, Sonia Medina, which also included goalkeepers Idania Leon and Arleth Vasquez who combined for 3 shoutouts in the season. The girls will begin their playoffs after spring break. Wish them well and keep them in your prayers!
